This is a horrific tragedy. As the article states, "The number of dead in Darfur should be counted in the hundreds of thousands, not the tens of thousands that are often reported..."
Some disagree that the death toll is not as high as the new estimates, others believe that the death toll is much higher than even the new estimates.
But is that relevant? Doesn't even one death in the name of genocide deserve our condemnation?
These acts are based on an unfounded hatred of one's own race. There is no tolerance for the murderers...they kill because they believe they have the right to do so.
Not one individual on this planet has the right to take a life without just cause. Hating someone, despising them for who they are or what they believe is certainly not just cause.
Genocide defies definition and statistics..it is one of the most startling traits of human beings. Genocide forces the advances towards a more civilized planet backwards towards our days as barbarians.
These acts are pure evil. They must stop.
