Gay Marriage BANNING GAY MARRIAGES While we are discussing religion, constitution and tolerance lest I forget my two cents worth regarding the Bush Administrations' futile attempt to promote discrimination in this nation as well as their treasonous attempt to bastardize the US Constitution with religious beliefs. President Bush states he wants to preserve the family and the only way to do this is with a constitutional amendment. Ridiculous poppycock. Intolerant people like this president and the insidious conservation right wing he kisses up to are like a disease. They believe that they not only have a right to have their own beliefs, they believe that everyone else should believe as they do...totally contrary to the inherent tolerance created by our founding fathers. For those who look beyond this narrow view, a family can be anyone, man, woman, children, two men, two women, grandparents and grandchildren, foster children, adopted children and the list goes on. I am an idealist, among many, who hope for a day when we discuss real issues like poverty, housing and quality jobs and quit invading the privacy of other people's lives. We laugh at the hypocrisy of these intolerable debates yet cry at the insensitivity of the narrow minded. We wait and work for that day when civilization quits stepping backwards.
